Mapuche

hops

An aroma hop that as far as I can work out originates from Argentina. It's described as floral and elegant, although I've been unable to get much detailed information on it.

The hop itself smells strongly of grapefruit, and this carries through into the taste. There's not a lot else that's noticeable in terms of flavour.

In my experience with it, Mapuche has added a smooth bitterness to the beer.

I've used it to brew a pale ale where the grapefruit flavours dominated. I expect it would also be useful in a IPA where you're looking for strong citrus flavours.
